This week, I have decided to undertake a written auto-ethnography based on a television experience that has made my weeknights both memorable and enjoyable.
In my experience, television has been a great ordeal. I have had several sentimental memories of relaxing and enjoyable viewings as well as viewings that brought people together.
‘Have You Been Paying Attention?’ is a TV show that both myself and my family watch every Monday night at quarter to nine. This show has become a regular show that we watch and has been around for about 6 years now. I never really understood the shows humour until I was about 16 and would sometimes read the news which made it a lot easier to understand. My basketball game is always on a Monday night so my game would finish at roughly eight o’clock and I would rush home to have a quick shower and eat some dinner then flick on the TV to Channel 10 and HYBPA would start. The show would have special guest stars most weeks, either controversial or popular, and it would make the show a lot more interesting and much more fun to watch.
This has been a really memorable pastime for me as it brings smart humour to my life and gives me a burst of happiness which I sometimes need.
